On Dec. 21, 2010, the Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation awarded a $1 million grant to Wilson College for scholarships. The grant will provide scholarships for students with high financial need and strong academic ability who might not otherwise be able to enroll at Wilson.
This grant will be added to Wilson's Stabler Scholarship Endowment, which was established through a $300,000 Stabler Foundation grant to Wilson in 2008 for scholarship. It is the Stabler Foundation's hope that scholarship recipients will after graduation make their own contributions to enhance this fund, enabling further scholarships to benefit future Wilson students.
The Stabler Foundation has supported Wilson College in the past, including funding for the Curran Scholars Program in 1997 and providing funds to help in the restoration of the Möller organ in Wilson's Alumnae Chapel in Thomson Hall.
Located in Harrisburg, the Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation was established by the Stablers in 1966 exclusively for charitable, religious, scientific, literary or educational purposes. The Foundation awards grants to educational institutions, parochial or church-related schools, nonprofit hospitals and medical facilities. The Foundation also supports religious institutions and social service organizations that seek to preserve and instill traditional moral and ethical values, respect for the family, concern for others, self-reliance and a productive life.
